As your optometrist in New Jersey, we recommend a comprehensive eye exam every year to maintain vision and prevent vision impairment as best as possible. Depending on your age, any environmental or hereditary risk factors, and any current corrective lenses, you may need to schedule more frequent screenings.
Young children require at least an annual eye exam to detect vision problems that may interfere with seeing in the classroom and learning. We recommend that your child’s first eye exam occur at about six months old. This will help us catch any potential vision problems right away.
Children already wearing corrective lenses will need to be fitted for new glasses as they grow. And due to normal growth, their prescription may need to be updated many times before reaching adulthood.
